O tema da casa geminada é difícil de tratar num clima tropical, sobretudo se a largura do terreno é muito restrita.
Estas duas casas propõem uma solução possível ao problema da ventilação e iluminação natural do centro da construção, ao mesmo tempo que valoriza a faixa lateral do terreno, geralmente desaproveitada como zona “nobre” da construção.
Os artifícios para essa solução são o da planta em U e a escada central como chaminé de convecção do ar quente e de iluminação reflectida, profunda, a partir do terraço da cobertura.
A defender-lhe a expressão “mediterrânica” fica apenas a convicção com que se tratam volumes tão elementares inchados do seu próprio espaço interior.

These two houses propose a possible solution to problems of natural lighting and ventilation of the inner core of the construction, at the same time that it reinforces the value of the narrow side strip of land generally wasted as a “noble” area of the building.
The ways to solve this problem has to do with the handling of the plan in a U shape and the treatment of the central staircase as a convection and illumination chimney to let hot air escape and bring in reflected natural light from the terrace at roof level.
To justify its” Mediterranean” expression there is the conviction that it is nothing more than we proposed, no more than elementary volumes blown from their own internal space.
